I’m currently a parent governor at Edmondsley and the chair of the governing body. I have two daughters, who previously attended Edmondsley, now at Secondary School, and a son who is in year 6 at Edmondsley. So, I’ve had contact with the school since about 2006.
I’m a self-employed design engineer. I gained my degree from Northumbria university and where I have taught on and off over the last ten years.
I’m not sure if it comes from having engineering/science based training but I tend to be quite good at stepping back from situations somewhat and analysing them to find potential solutions. I benefit from having a team around me that can supply a diverse perspective from my own.
I’m astonished at how much the role of governing body has changed in the short time I’ve been involved. The breadth of experiences and training as a governor help me to develop as an individual, which is great. I’m often in awe of the skills and time freely given to Edmondsley by others on the governing body.
I’m very happy to talk, so if you’d like to know more about governance at Edmondsley, please feel free to ask.
